L’amplificazione elettrica permetterà ben presto ai chitarristi di rivaleggiare con ance e ottoni. Sul piano armonico, nascono delle scale per tono e degli accordi di passaggio. Le melodie, dal taglio spigoloso – spesso vicino alle figure eseguite dai batteristi – sono dei riff themes in cui appaiono dei salti bruschi, delle dissonanze, degli effetti cromatici. Riscritti e riarmonizzati, parafrasati armonicamente dai bopper, gli standard e i vecchi temi divengono irriconoscibili: How High The Moon si muta in Ornithology, All The Things You Are in Bird Of Paradise, Cherokee in Koko, Honeysuckle Rose in Marmaduke, Indiana in Donna Lee, Just You, Just Me in Evidence, Lady Be Good in Hackensack, What Is This Thing Called Love in Hot House.

Electrical amplification will soon allow guitarists to compete with reeds and brass instruments. On the harmonic level, tone and chords of passage create the scales. The melodies, from the angular cut - often close to the figures performed by the drummers - are riff themes in which abrupt jumps, dissonances, chromatic effects appear. The standards were rewritten and reharmonized, paraphrased harmonically by Bopper. The old issues become unrecognizable. ‘How High The Moon’ changes in ‘Ornithology.’ ‘All The Things You Are’ in ‘Bird Of Paradise.’ ‘Cherokee’ in ‘Koko.’ ‘Honeysuckle Rose’ in ‘Marmaduke.’ ‘Indiana’ becomes ‘Donna Lee.’ ‘Just You, Just Me’ is transformed in ‘Evidence,’ ‘Lady Be Good’ in ‘Hackensack,’ and ‘What Is This Thing Called  Love’ in ‘Hot House.’
