Emmett Louis Hardy 1903

Cornettista statunitense (New Orleans, Louisiana, 12.6.1903 – 16.6.1925). I genitori, musicisti, gli fanno studiare pianoforte e chitarra. Comincia a suonare pianoforte e chitarra. Comincia a suonare la cornetta a dodici anni e debutta a quattordici nell’orchestra di Jack Papa Laine.
Suona su un battello fluviale (1919), poi su un altro, prima di accompagnare i New Orleans Rhythm Kings al Friar’s Chicago. Ritorna nella sua città ma viene travolto dalla tubercolosi a ventidue anni. Di questo figlio leggendario di New Orleans, un testimone, il cornettista Johnny Wiggs, dice che suonava in modo molto simile a Bix Beiderbecke, sul quale si dice pure che avrebbe fatto grande impressione a Davenport (Iowa), in occasione di una tournée. Purtroppo non ha lasciato nessuna registrazione.

American cornetist (New Orleans, Louisiana, 12.6.1903 - 16.6.1925). His parents, musicians, make him study piano and guitar. He starts playing the piano and guitar. He began playing the cornet when he was twelve and made his debut at fourteen in the Jack Papa Laine orchestra.
He plays on a riverboat (1919), then on another, before accompanying the New Orleans Rhythm Kings to Friar's Chicago. He returns to his city but is overwhelmed by tuberculosis at the age of twenty-two. Of this legendary son of New Orleans, a witness, the cornetist Johnny Wiggs, said that he played very similarly to Bix Beiderbecke, who said he would have made a great impression in Davenport (Iowa), on the occasion of a tour. Unfortunately, he didn't leave any registration.
