A New York ritrova Bechet (da Nick’s, 1940), poi gli Spirits Of Rhythm (giugno 1940).

American double bass player, guitarist, arranger, and singer (Germantown, Pennsylvania, 2.10.1906 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 10.7019929: In the early 1920s, he took up the position of drummer in an orchestra accompanying Bessie Smith on tour. Learn to play the banjo and the guitar after the trombone and the clarinet.

In 1931, while he is with King Oliver, he opts for the double bass; he is part of Bechet-Ladnier's New Orleans Feetwarmers (1923-33). With Lucky Millinder, he arrives in France (1933); on his return, he plays with Willie Bryant (1934), then with the Spirits Of Rhythm (1934-37). He returned to Europe again in the spring of 1937 (at the Florence in Paris). And he was then hired in the Netherlands by Willie Lewis (1938).

In New York, he meets Bechet (from Nick's, 1940), then the Spirits Of Rhythm (June 1940). He works with Mezz Mezzrow, in a trio, with the DeParis brothers (1944), with Rex Stewart (1946), with Duke Ellington (1946) and again with Rex Stewart. Then he directs a formation in Philadelphia but leaves the music after a few years, following a mystical crisis.

Myers' pulse has excellent elasticity. Its careful, precise execution supports your partners with authority.
