Trombonista, compositore e arrangiatore statunitense (Newton, New Jersey, 12.7.1912 – Flemington, New Jersey, 15.7.1989).

Me Daddy (Eight To The Bar).

American trombonist, composer, and arranger (Newton, New Jersey, 12.7.1912 - Flemington, New Jersey, 15.7.1989).

He plays in university orchestras before arriving in New York in 1928 and performing with Red Nichols. From 1931 to 1939, he took part in radio bands, except for a two-year stay (1935-36) with Ray Noble. He then set up his orchestra, which, until 1942, he conducted jointly with drummer Ray McKinley. In the style of the great white swing bands, following the fashion of boogie-woogie, he met with real popular success, especially in 1940 with Beat Me, Daddy (Eight To The Bar). He still plays in Sauter-Finegan (1953), but his activity - in addition to the composition of classical works - is limited to the work of the recording studio.

A good technician and soloist who could rival the best virtuosos of the time, Will Bradley, unfortunately, left only a few records that do him justice.
