This type of music, written exclusively for the piano on the harmonic bases of romantic music, will become one of the first styles of jazz. At the beginning of the century, notable composers spread their syncopated notes in places not always recommended (honky tonks, saloons, brothels). Such as Scott Joplin -of which we still have perforated paper rolls -, Tony Jackson, Eubie Blake, Luckey Roberts - all extraordinary authors. Eubie Blake, the precursor of the composers of Broadway black magazines, is undoubtedly the first black pianist to record from 1917 onwards. This honor should have touched Luckey Roberts, but Columbia rejected his two solos from 1916. The real beginnings of the recordings of pianists and jazz musicians date back to 1921, with the flowering of blues singers, often accompanied by a solo pianist (Fletcher Henderson, James P. Johnson, Clarence Williams, are the most requested accompanists). In the same year, the first masterpieces for piano solo were released: Ebuie Blake's Sounds Of Africa and James P. Johnson's Carolina Shout.
